Our Story

Sliwa & Lane is a professional family with mutual commitment, individual competence, loyalty and motivation to sustain the core.  This spirit provides resources, stablity, economic opportunity and a sense of belonging and trust.  

We concentrate our practice in civil defense and insurance-coverage related matters.  Our firm is essentially divided into two general areas:  coverage and defense. In all areas of our practice we strive to quickly obtain the most economical, immediate and comprehensive evaluation of projected exposure and estimate of defense costs. We will work with you to develop a plan to resolve the claim. It is up to us to immediately communicate changes in either our understanding of the facts of the case or controlling law which impact upon our initial opinion and to execute the litigation plan that we have jointly developed. We limit the types of cases that our individual attorneys work on in order to allow them to develop a knowledge of the law that is not surpassed by anyone. By following these steps, we are able to save you both defense and indemnification costs and thereby do the job that we are hired to perform - resolution of the matter. 

We provide coverage representation throughout the New York State. This includes preparation of preliminary opinion letters, draft reservation of rights letters and disclaimer letters, and litigation of coverage actions. Our defense practice concentrates in Western New York State (the Counties of Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Erie, Genesee, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Otsego, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates).
