Municipal Civil Rights Defense

Sliwa & Lane is one of the few firms with the expertise necessary to successfully defend municipal entities - cities, towns, villages, police departments, school districts, etc. - in actions brought for alleged violations of Federal or New York State Civil Rights Law(s). This includes representation before the New York State Division of Human Rights or related Federal Regulatory Agencies (EEOC, etc.). We have defended against Title VII claims, claims under Section 1983 and as employment discrimination claims, and have successfully defended municipalities against claims for false arrest, malicious prosecution, police brutality, sex discrimination and age and race discrimination.
